Helpful Therapy Center, LLC- the leading provider of individual, group and family counseling, clinical supervision and community outreach.

ABOUT HELPFUL THERAPY CENTER

Helpful Therapy Center, LLC is a counseling system dedicated to the wellness of the individual, the foundation of the family, and the advancement of our community. I like to think of HTC as an à la carte " practice, allowing the client to find the therapeutic approach and blend of services that fulfills the journey that fits each individual spirit.

In addition to the services provided to clients, we provide outreach within the community and guidance for new counselors as they seek full licensure.

Another passion of mine is the guidance and support to new clinicians entering into the field. Thus, I take pride in HTC serving as a internship site to such schools as Boston University, Northwestern University, and Georgia State University; hosting graduate students and nurses as they acquire the experience and exposure to help gain confidence in their craft. Interns provide private pay services at a discounted rate.

Cherrell D. Thomas, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) | National Certified Counselor (NCC)

Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS)

Master's in Community Counseling, Georgia School of Professional Psychology/Argosy Univ

Bachelor's in Psychology, Georgia State University

Since entering the profession over 18 years ago, I have had the pleasure of gaining experience in various areas of the counseling field; from the foster care system, community mental health centers, emergency room evaluations, inpatient psychiatric care, intensive family intervention, autism advocacy, Employee Assistance Programs, and federal employee support focusing on law enforcement officers and first responders. Each setting preparing me for my own private practice in 2013. It's very important to me to continuously seek ways I can remain engaged in the community and involve others in mental health awareness. So, in addition to my therapy services, you can catch me at community health fairs, conferences, and seminars. This allows me to outreach and provide vital information in a casual format to dispel myths about mental health and promote overall wellness. As a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor, I have been able to extend my dedication to the mental health field by providing supervision and guidance to students and new graduates. I absolutely LOVE supporting and guiding the next generation of counselors and collaborating with various universities by serving as an internship site.

Whether working with adults or children, I am always reminded of the human nature of resiliency. I enjoy collaborating, encouraging, and providing support during the personal journeys of others. I have encountered diverse clients in a variety of settings; which has helped foster my belief in the good in all of us. Every time I meet a new client, I am more aware of how much more we are alike as human beings than we are different - we all want the basic pillars in life: happiness, as sense of belonging, and fulfillment (and I am lucky enough to say that my job provides me with all three!).
